The photovoltaic installations of Grupo Ganaderos de Fuerteventura represent an important step towards self-sufficiency and energy sustainability of our company. It is a desire that we conceive as an important reality within our company philosophy and values.
A big step towards self-sufficiency and sustainability
With this second installation, we will avoid the emission of 60.6 tons of CO2 per year, which would be equivalent to the action of 1,240 trees per year. This installation in our factory is the first phase of the two planned up to a maximum installation of 280 kW in said plant, which would be equivalent to 90% of the energy consumption necessary for its production processes. We will thus avoid the emission of 169.68 tons of CO2 per year or, in other words, the action of 3,472 trees per year.
We continue to work and take firm steps in our conviction to reduce the carbon footprint of our different activities. To do this, last December we installed our first 100 kW of photovoltaic panel power in our manufacturing facilities, located in Llanos de la Higuera, in the municipality of Tuineje.
Grupo Ganaderos de Fuerteventura continues to develop its strategic plan for sustainability and to minimize the impact of its business activities in the coming years. This new installation is the second of this type set up by the organization in its different facilities: the first was placed in its ripening chambers in Puerto del Rosario with a power of 60 kW.
We believe, without a doubt, that a sustainable future is the best thing we can leave to the next generations.
